Filip Lacic said that a previous agreement under which the status of
the unassigned police who are on a hunger strike was to be regulated
first was changed at today's meeting. Instead of that, it was
decided that the problem of unassigned policemen should be solved
according to the alphabetical order by police departments.
"Our representatives could not agree to this and withdrew from the
commission," Lacic said.
He added that the protesters had submitted a written request asking
that their negotiating team meet with government officials to
"finally clear things up". Government officials replied that only
three representatives could participate in talks, which the
protesters did not accept, Lacic said.
Another of 12 protesters who started a hunger strike on March 26
today discontinued the strike on doctor's advice. Five former
policemen continue refusing food. Around fifty policemen were
protesting in front of the government in Zagreb's St. Mark's Square
today.
