Despite claims that Delimustafic, for whom two international
arrest warrants have been issued, will be handed over to Bosnia-
Herzegovina immediately upon the completion of his trial, his
attorney Momcilo Bulatovic was denied information on whether and
when his client would be handed over, the excuse being that the
information was "an official secret".
Delimustafic was sentenced to the minimum prison sentence (the
maximum sentence for the criminal act in question being five
years). The court rejected his attorney's request that he receive a
suspended sentence, saying the reason for his detention still
existed as he was a foreign citizen and had no permanent residence
in Yugoslavia.
Delimustafic admitted to having forged his identification papers,
saying he came to Serbia to collect debts from companies which owed
3.7 million German marks to his Bosnian company. He said that he had
used forged identification papers because he was afraid that he
would be recognised as a former Bosnian interior minister, and that
he might be kidnapped because of that.
