ZAGREB, March 22 (hina) - Laid-off policemen will continue to
protest outside the government building until they return to their
jobs in the Interior Ministry, police representative Filip Lacic
said on Friday.#L#
About 70 policemen from across Croatia started the protest on
Wednesday, demanding of Prime Minister Ivica Racan to meet their
demands and return them to their jobs in the ministry.
According to Lacic, the laid-off policemen, dissatisfied with
Thursday's talks with Prime Minister Ivica Racan, demanded that
Racan's deputy Drazen Budisa receive them.
The government said in a statement on Thursday that the Prime
Minister proposed the establishment of a police commission which
will investigate the status of laid-off workers.
The government said the commission would submit a written report to
the Prime Minister within 15 days.
Lacic said Racan was only "buying time" and added the policemen
would continue to protest.
