ZAGREB, Dec 22 (Hina) - The fifth Croatian parliament started an inaugural session on Monday morning, a month after the victory of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) at parliamentary elections.

inaugural session on Monday morning, a month after the victory of the
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) at parliamentary elections.#L#
The session was called by President of the Republic Stjepan Mesic in
accordance with his constitutional powers.
The session is being attended by President Mesic, the outgoing Prime
Minister Ivica Racan of the Social Democratic Party, Prime
Minister-designate Ivo Sanader of the HDZ and some 200 political and
public figures and church dignitaries.
Until the election of new president of the parliament, the session is
being chaired by the incumbent president, Zlatko Tomcic of the Peasant
Party.
