The new parliament's inaugural session is convened by the president
of the republic, while the parliament is considered constituted
with the election of its president at its first session, which is
attended by the majority of deputies.
Croatia's parliamentary election was held on Nov. 23, with the
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party winning the majority of seats
-- 66 out of 152.
Mesic entrusted HDZ leader Ivo Sanader with forming the new
government.
The new parliament's inaugural session will be held on the 13th
anniversary of the passing of the so-called Christmas
Constitution, which has already earned the new parliament the label
the Christmas Sabor.
