has told a Slovene TV station he personally feels one more attempt
should be made to resolve the sea border issue between Croatia and
Slovenia. #L#
"That will be my government's intention," he said in an interview
with POP-TV last week which was broadcast on Tuesday.
Sanader said his Croatian Democratic Union had objected to the
"initialled but unsigned" deal the two countries' prime ministers
had reached in 2001 because it was "unjust" since it satisfied
neither side. The sea border solution has to be just, he said.
Speaking of the Croatian parliament's decision to proclaim an
ecological and fishing zone in the Adriatic, Sanader said it had not
been a precedent because it was a measure that had been applied in
the Mediterranean and was based on international law.
Sanader voiced confidence Croatia-Slovenia relations would be good
because the two countries had been close as republics in the former
Yugoslavia and would be equally close in the European Union.
