ZAGREB, Nov 27 (Hina) - Vesna Skulic, who has won a seat in the Croatian parliament as an independent candidate on a Social Democratic Party (SDP) slate, is the first disabled person and member of disabled civilians' associations to
sit in the parliament.

Before Skulic, disabled deputies were only Homeland War veterans,
like Mladen Jurkovic and Pavle Kalinic.
"I will advocate equal rights for disabled and other people and
equal participation of disabled people in politics," said Skulic, a
100-percent invalid who moves in a wheelchair.
