MOSTAR/SARAJEVO, Nov 29 (Hina) - The House of Peoples of the
Parliament of Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday adopted a law on
defence which establishes a unified defence system and chain of
command in the country. #L#
The law is yet to be adopted by the House of Representatives at a
session scheduled for Monday, only three days before the deadline
set by the international community expires.
The chairman of the national commission for the reform of the
defence system, US diplomat James Locher, expressed satisfaction
with the decision of the upper house, adding he hoped the lower
house would do the same.
At the last session of the House of Representatives on Thursday,
deputies from the Bosnian Serb entity did not support the law the
adoption of which would bring Bosnia-Herzegovina closer to
membership in NATO's Partnership for Peace programme.
