"Our basic position is that the 2001 agreement between prime
ministers (Janez) Drnovsek and (Ivica) Racan is good and that it
represents the foundation of all negotiations between Slovenia and
Croatia regarding the border," Rop said.
"However, it is first necessary to wait for the new Croatian
government to be formed with which we will then hold the appropriate
consultations," Rop told the Slovene parliament.
He said that in principle Slovenia was not against arbitration on
the border, and stressed that his government would voice its
opinion on the issue only after consultations with the new
authorities in Croatia.
