Addressing a crowd of several hundred people, HDZ leader Ivo
Sanader said that Istrian fishermen had done more to promote and
protect national interests than Prime Minister Ivica Racan and his
Foreign Ministry had.
Speaking of relations with Slovenia, Sanader said he regarded
Slovenia as a friendly neighbouring country, adding that his party
would address all disputes between the two countries peacefully,
because "good neighbourly relations and friendship cannot be
bought with territory."
"Just as we shared our destiny with Slovenia in the former
Yugoslavia, we will also share it in the united Europe," the HDZ
leader said.
