ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - After the announcement of preliminary
unofficial election results, Croatian People's Party (HNS)
president Vesna Pusic said the preliminary data were far from being
final and that it was possible both the right wing and the left
centre would muster a narrow victory. #L#
Pusic said that the coalition of the left centre had failed to
present its achievements and strength in an adequate manner. This
is why only two teams are being focused on -- the one which brought
the country to the verge of disaster and the other which pulled it
out of that situation, Pusic said, adding the coalition had started
presenting its achievements too late.
She said minorities would influence the election results because
the race would be narrow. Asked when Croatia would join the EU if the
new government was formed by right wing parties, Pusic said that
entering the EU by 2007/2008 would be difficult in that case.
Commenting on a claim that Ivica Racan had congratulated those who
will form the new government, Pusic said that was his own business.
