SPLIT, Nov 16 (Hina) - The Croatian People's Party (HNS) held an
election rally in Split on Sunday to present its platform and
candidates in constituency no. 10. #L#
Addressing the crowd, HNS leader Vesna Pusic called on the people of
Dalmatia to vote for her party in the parliamentary elections on
November 23.
"Croatia, and Dalmatia in particular, are historically a part of
Europe, so give us a mandate to complete our work to ensure that
Croatia becomes a part of Europe politically as well. The road to
the European Union is not easy. We have a lot of work to do, but we
will enter the EU in our next term of office," Pusic said.
Citing the construction of 150 km of the Zagreb-Split highway as one
of the successes of the present government, Pusic said that if they
won the vote their next job would be to complete the highway and to
create conditions in the country to make it possible for citizens to
buy housing.
The first candidate on the HNS slate in this constituency will be
Jaksa Marasovic.
Marasovic told Hina that a minor incident occurred when somebody
threw an egg at Pusic as she was approaching the rostrum. The egg
missed Pusic and landed about 30cm from her, he said.
Commenting on the incident, Pusic said that "rivals of the HNS do
not have arguments, so they throw eggs instead. We in the HNS have
risen above this. It's nothing serious, but it's not something that
should happen".
