ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - Croatian People's Party (HNS) president
Vesna Pusic on Tuesday handed over copies of the party's election
programme written in Braille alphabet to the Zagreb branch of the
national association of blind persons. #L#
Association officials used the occasion to criticise the incumbent
ruling coalition for its lack of awareness of problems which the
blind encounter.
Pusic supported their request that all disabled persons should be
given equal status and equal rights regardless of the causes of
their disability.
The head of the Zagreb branch of the Croatian association of blind
persons, Milutin Sakic, said that in European Union countries most
of disabled persons usually voted for left-wing parties as they
offered better socially sensitive programmes, but in Croatia,
Sakic said, neither the right nor the left had any social
programme.
