Addressing the rally in Zadar, Cacic said that these elections
would determine if Croatia would be led by the Croatian Democratic
Union's (HDZ) centre-right government or a government headed by the
HNS and the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He said he would like to
see the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) join the HNS-SDP coalition.
If a centre-right coalition comes to power, it will be subject to
evaluation by the European Union and Croatia will be late for
joining the EU in 2007, Cacic said.
While Cacic was speaking, someone in the crowd shouted "thief"
several times, to which Cacic said that those who voted with their
hearts would opt for the HDZ, while those who vote with their heads
would opt for the HNS.
The HNS leader and head of the party slate in constituency no. 6,
Vesna Pusic, said at the election rally in Sisak that the HNS was
ready to "accomplish the European level of human rights, equality,
tolerance and the average European quality of life in Croatia in the
next four years".
Speaking about the achievements of the current coalition, which
also includes the HNS, Pusic said that over the past four years
Croatia had freed itself from the fear of state authority.
Today, there is no one who fears the president of the state, the
prime minister, or the parliament speaker, Pusic said.
