VUKOVAR, Nov 20 (Hina) - The commemoration of the 12th anniversary
of the occupation of Vukovar by Serb aggressors ended on Thursday

and the Ovcara farm outside the city. #L#
Serb rebels, supported by the Yugoslav People's Army, set up a
collection camp on the premises of the Velepromet company (outside
Vukovar) in mid-September 1991, and after overrunning the town on
18 November 1991, they detained soldiers and civilians in the
camp.
According to data from the Croatian society of prisoners detained
in Serb-run concentration camps, the number of inmates in the
Velepromet buildings rose to 8,000 at the time of the fall of
Vukovar. Among the detainees were also children.
Many of the detainees were killed and their bodies were thrown in
the Danube or were buried in mass graves scattered all over Vukovar-
Sirmium County.
Wreaths were also laid at the Ovcara farm where 200 wounded soldiers
and civilians were executed after being taken from the Vukovar
hospital.
Commemorative events in tribute to victims of the fall of Vukovar,
held this year under the motto "A White Cross Sends Admonition",
began on Sunday.
