The project refers to the preservation of biodiversity and the
sustainable use of natural resources in Gorski Kotar and Lika
regions, parts of Karlovac and Sibenik-Knin counties, and national
and nature parks.
Project manager Kornelija Pintaric said the Italian company
Agriconsulting was selected to employ 120 Croatian experts to carry
out field research and collect information on biodiversity.
She also reported that numerous residents of said areas had applied
for assistance in making investments in activities which integrate
economic development with the preservation of biodiversity. Since
the required assistance exceeds available funds, she called on
international institutions to join in the financing of the
projects.
