Ahead of the coming parliamentary elections TIH published on
Tuesday a brochure entitled 'Money in Politics' (in an unofficial
translation), by authors Josip Kregar and Djordje Gardasevic.
Presenting the brochure, Kregar said the costs of electioneering
must be shown to public. This will facilitate bids to present
politics as something which is not problematic but as a public
activity in which ideas and programmes rather than money would be
decisive for the election's results, he added.
Gardasevic believes that the precise regulation by laws of the
financing of political parties is a necessary but not sufficient
condition for the democratic and responsible conduct of parties.
With an atmosphere of responsible behaviour in society, the active
role of the media and efficient institutions for control are also
necessary, he added.
