that this was a case of mistaken identity, the Belgrade-based news

The arrest warrant was rescinded after it was established that
there were two Mile Novakovics, born in the same year. Both were
officers in the army of the so-called Republic of Serb Krajina and
both were involved in the aggression on Croatia in the early 1990s.
The difference is their rank, one being a general and the other a
lieutenant colonel.
In 1995, the Sibenik County Court sentenced Lt. Col. Novakovic in
absentia to 20 years in prison for war crimes against civilians,
believing that it sentenced General Novakovic.
The local court is expected to renew the trial in the Novakovic
case.
