Vorkapic is the last person on a list of 18 people suspected of
committing genocide and war crimes against civilians in Lovas in
1991 and the only one to be arrested. Proceedings against the 18
started in their absence before the county court in Vukovar on
Tuesday.
Police said they had acted on an arrest warrant that was issued by
the court today. Vorkapic will be taken before the court this
afternoon.
Sixty-nine people were killed and at least 33 seriously wounded
during Serb attacks on Lovas and the occupation of the village in
1991.
