BELGRADE, Sept 27 (Hina) - The Foreign Minister of Serbia and Montenegro, Goran Svilanovic, on Saturday expressed doubts about the identity of Mile Novakovic, convicted war criminal who had been arrested in Macedonia based on a
warrant issued by the Croatian Interpol, state television reported. "In my opinion, we have a case of mistaken identity," Svilanovic said. Novakovic, a Lt. Colonel of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro and a vice chairman of the war invalids association's steering committee, was one of the senior officials in the occupied part of Croatia held by Serb rebels during the 1990's war. On 28 February 1995 the county court in Croatia's Sibenik sentenced Novakovic in absentia to 20 years in prison from war crimes against civilians, the use of prohibited weapons and the destruction of sacral and historical monuments.(hina) it
