that the door to membership of the Charter was always open to them.

opened a conference on the implementation of the Adriatic Charter
in Ohrid on Saturday. She told her counterparts from Serbia and
Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina that the door to membership of
the Charter was always open to them. #L#
The Adriatic Charter was signed several months ago. It is a a
document on partnership between Croatia, Macedonia and Albania in
the implementation of reforms necessary for joining NATO and the
EU.
The Macedonian minister said the Charter represented partnership
in collective political activities of the three countries, as well
as partnership in individual achievements.
Apart from Croatian Foreign Minister Tonino Picula, the Macedonia
minister and Albanian Foreign Minister Ilir Meta, the Charter was
also signed by U.S. Secretary of State Collin Powel and formalised
the support of the US to the three countries on their way to NATO.
The Charter foresees cooperation of the three countries in
strengthening democracy, the state of human rights, implementation
of reforms, regional security and coopertion in already launched
reforms of armed forces.
The Croatian foreign minister will address the Ohrid conference
later today. Apart from Croatia, Macedonia and Albania, the
conference is also attended by foreign ministers from Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro, Bulgaria, Greece,
Turkey and experts from the United States, NATO and the European
Union.
