The project was launched by the Thessaloniki-based Centre for
Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeast Europe in response to
demands from teachers who complained about the quality of textbooks
in some countries, it was said.
Organisers added reactions in individual countries varied, from
acceptance in Bulgaria to "cold ignoring" in Croatia.
The project is funded in part by the United States Agency for
International Development and the German Foreign Ministry, and
pools scientists from the region.
