Vukovar-Srijem County leadership in Vinkovci on Wednesday.

Simonic and Education and Sports Minister Vladimir Strugar
attended the session which focused on the situation in the
education system.
Simonic said that only 30-40 percent of all enrolled students
completed their studies, and not all on time.
Some 200 million kuna was set aside this year for teachers'
salaries, which is an increase of 4-11 percent, while transport
costs for students alone totalled some 24 million kuna, Simonic
said.
Minister Strugar described the situation in the education system as
stable. He said that 147 schools had been built in the last three
years.
As of this school year Croatian Telecom will grant schools 10 hours
of free Internet access every day, Strugar said.
The minister also announced that foreign languages would be taught
from the first grade as of this school year.
After the session of the county government, Vice-Premier Simonic
opened a secondary school in Vinkovci.
