Thirty pupils of a maximum 40 envisaged have enrolled so far,
including children with special needs.
The school is characterised by an individual approach and rhythm in
learning and the early study of foreign languages, temporary
headmistress Narcisa Buczynski said.
Education Minister Vladimir Strugar voiced confidence the school
would enrich Croatia's educational system, and said his ministry
would financially support the school.
Dede Vranyczany (1896-1984) established the first Montessori
institution in Croatia, a kindergarten, in Zagreb in 1934.
