There are two armies in Bosnia-Herzegovina at present - the Croat-
Muslim army and the Bosnian Serb army. The reform of the country's
military forces is underway and a law on defence is being prepared
so that the country could meet requirements for joining NATO's
Partnership for Peace programme.
The spokesman for the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia,
Julian Braithwaite, said the law envisaged establishment of a
single defence structure on the national level and a national
defence ministry.
He said that military uniforms would bear insignia of the state of
Bosnia-Herzegovina, allegiance would be sworn to the state, and the
national anthem and the Bosnian state flag would be used in the
army.
