Tomcic said in Ilok on Saturday such statements were certainly not
conducive to the advancement of co-existence in Croatia.
The celebration in Udbina on Sept. 9 will launch an initiative to
build a Croatian martyrs church in this town 150 km south of Zagreb.
The sponsors of the project are the parliament and the Croatian
Bishops Conference.
According to a newspaper, Udbina municipal head Stanko Momcilovic
has said he suspects that even one Serb will attend the event, "not
because of the celebration but more because of the initiative to
build the Croatian martyrs church". The municipal government, in
the hands of the Serb People's Party, has been completely left out
of the organisation of the event, he has said.
