BELGRADE, Aug 31 (Hina) - The Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, the country's government, last Wednesday passed a decree on community service, to take effect on October 15.

Montenegro, the country's government, last Wednesday passed a
decree on community service, to take effect on October 15. #L#
The Council issued a statement saying that by passing said decree
the country was leaving "a circle of few countries where community
service is not possible".
According to existing regulations, community service in Serbia and
Montenegro lasts 13 months, while military service lasts nine
months.
