ZAGREB, Aug 22 (Hina) - The civil servants' union should have
submitted its list of candidates for a task force in charge of
drafting a plan for state administration reform much sooner, but it
is still not too late to include them in the revision of the plan,
the government's public relations office said in a statement
Friday. #L#
Earlier today, the government dismissed as "incorrect and untrue"
the union's accusations that it had not informed the union about the
reform plan.
In response to the union's claim that they had sent a list of
candidates in June, the government public relations office said
they should have done so much earlier, before the task force even
began its work.
"The union should have proposed their candidate right after the
meeting between the government's negotiation committee and civil
servants' union at the end of 2002," the office explained.
Since the union did not do so, the task force started drawing up a
plan for state administration reform without it.
"However, before the government discusses the issue, the draft plan
still has to go before the Economic and Social Council, which means
there is still time for union representatives to participate in
revising the reform," the PR office said.
