ZAGREB, Aug 18 (Hina) - Croatia's State Water Management on Monday urged public utility companies and their founders -- municipalities and towns -- to abide by the Law on Waters when deciding about cutting down water supply, namely
that supply must first be cut to the economy and then, only if really necessary, to citizens.

"Only if it is really necessary can water supply be reduced to the
population, households and facilities in which citizens reside
permanently, for example hospitals and hotels," chief state water
inspector Zeljko Makvic told Hina.
He said state water inspectors would watch if towns and
municipalities were complying with the law when making decisions to
cut down the supply.
