The three former soldiers, whose identity was not revealed, were
taken to an investigating judge at the Sisak County Court. The
county police department has pressed charges against them on
suspicion of a war crime against the civilian population.
The arrest of the three is the result of a criminal investigation
into the disappearance and murder of a number of Croatian Serb
citizens in the Sisak area in 1991 and 1992.
As reported in early June by the Sisak Prosecutor's Office, the
police are conducting preliminary investigations into the murder
of 35 Serb civilians in the area.
The Socialist Workers' Party's bulletin "The Croatian Left" last
year reported that 107 people from Sisak, mostly Serbs, had been
killed in the summer and autumn of 1991 and that 600 were still held
missing.
