SISAK, June 24 (Hina) - The president of the Sisak County Court,
Danko Kovac, has said that Tuesday's protest of some 30 war veterans
against the arrest and questioning of two war crimes suspects
constitutes "pressure on the court and its autonomy and has a
negative effect on the criminal proceedings". #L#
The court has acted according to the law and will do so until the
criminal process ends, so there is no justifiable reason for such
gathering in front of the court, nor for protests or gatherings in
support of the arrested, Kovac told reporters today.
As one of the suspects, Stanislav Gavron, was being brought out of
the court building after the questioning and transferred to the
nearby county prison by car, a group of gathered war veterans
protested loudly, shouting: "Red Mob", "Put Chetniks on trial, not
veterans" and "What will you do after the change in power".
The protesters dispersed after 3pm.
