The HSP is the only relevant party which has not yet been in
authority, Djapic said. Commenting on yesterday's statement by
Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) president Ante Simonic, that the HSS
expected 20 percent of votes he said that he would not speak about
the expected percentage of won votes, but that the HSP's electoral
result would be better than of the HSS.
Djapic expects a large number of voters to turn up for the
elections. He said the turnout would not influence the HSP's
success because, along with the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS),
the party had the most disciplined constituents.
Djapic said the electoral campaign had already started and
elections could be expected to take place in the autumn. This can be
deducted from the "(Social Democrats) SDP and the HSS obviously
drawing close", Djapic said, adding that the incumbent authorities
would try to exploit the good effects of the opening of highways to
their advantage.
Djapic stressed he expected the date of parliamentary elections to
be publicly set by mid-July.
