BELGRADE, June 17 (Hina) - The cabinet of the president of the Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro, Dragoljub Micunovic, on Tuesday dismissed a Croatian Television (HTV) report broadcast on Monday night in which it was stated that not one official of Serbia and Montenegro would speak to an HTV crew.
#L# A letter refuting the report was sent to Hina, stating that this "is a very dangerous untruth, which insinuates that the officials in Belgrade justify or are at least benevolently look on the outpouring of rage of hooligans in the streets of Belgrade and Novi Sad". The president of Serbia and Montenegro's Assembly, Dragoljub Micunovic, not only most sharply condemned the incidents and expressed his deep regret and apology to the most senior Croatian officials, but accepted to make a statement on the incidents to HTV's reporter Visnja Misin, said the letter, also forwarded to HTV. Micunovic further explained that the reporter did not turn up at the agreed time and only later explained over the phone that she had not made it due to a traffic jam and had to return back to her base to send her report for HTV prime time news on time. Misin's report left HTV viewers with the impression that the officials in Belgrade do not care about the unfortunate incidents and do not want to apologise to the Croatian public, says the statement, sent to HTV editor-in-chief Nikola Kristic by Micunovic's media advisor Tamara Spaic. "I ask that you inform your viewers that this is not true and that the President of the Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro and democratic authorities in Belgrade do want better contact with the Croatian public and want to condemn the attack on the Croatian Embassy in Belgrade," reads the letter.
