The Ivica Racan Cabinet authorised mayors of towns and cities and
county prefects to call the founding sessions for ethnic
minorities' councils, elected at the May 18 elections, within 30
days after the announcement of the ballot's results.
In units of local authorities where the election failed, namely
where an insufficient number of councillors was elected,
additional elections will be organised to take place together with
a regular parliamentary vote within some six months, as Deputy
Prime Minister Goran Granic said.
