Croatia's promotional video at CNN, too, was given highest marks at
that event in the Portuguese resort of Vilamoura, which gathered
more than 480 tourist experts and government officials from all
over the world.
The summit, organised by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC),
was covered by over 100 reporters.
The participants discussed current topics in the global tourist
industry in light of the latest political developments.
Minister Zupan Ruskovic said that tourism went ahead despite
current problems such as the infectious disease SARS, wars and
terrorism.
According to her, participants in the summit pointed out the
necessity of cooperation between the public and the private sector
in the world so as to help promote peace and freedom as pre-
conditions for the development of tourism, which currently
generates over 190 million jobs in the world and accounts for 10
percent of the overall global Gross Domestic Product.
Minister Zupan Ruskovic said Croatia was commended at the summit
for compiling its first Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) in
cooperation with the WTTC. According to the TSA, the national
tourism will continue registering above-average rates of growth
such as a 6.9-percent rise annually in the coming ten years. This
year, Croatia can expect 7.9 billion US dollars of revenues from
tourism.
