LJUBLJANA, May 17 (Hina) - "I believe that former Slovene President
Milan Kucan will testify before the Hague Tribunal about Slobodan
Milosevic's preparations for the war and the creation of 'an
ethnically clean Greater Serbia'", Croatian President Stjepan
Mesic told Slovenia's daily "Vecer". #L#
The Slovene daily on Saturday published the interview with Mesic in
which he spoke about bilateral relations, as well as Kucan's
testimony, which he will give next Wednesday as a witness for the
prosecution in the trial of Milosevic.
The interview was conducted last Wednesday, during Mesic's visit to
Ljubljana and after his private meeting with Kucan.
"I don't think Kucan will testify about the war in Croatia and
Bosnia-Herzegovina (...). In my opinion, Kucan will speak about the
phase that preceded the war, namely the preparations of Milosevic
and his regime for the war which was aimed at expanding borders and
creating a Greater and ethnically clean Serbia," Mesic said.
He said Kucan could also testify about Milosevic's activities aimed
at breaking up "the multinational party", namely about the events
which took place at the last, 14th congress of the Yugoslav
Communist Alliance.
