Mesic said that at an exhibition called "Germany - France:
Reconciliation for Europe", commenting on media headlines on the
statement by ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte who allegedly
accused the Croatian government on Friday that it did not wish to
arrest the fugitive general.
Asked whether Croatia should sign an agreement with the U.S. on the
non-extradition of American citizens to the International Criminal
Court, as Bosnia did on Friday, Mesic said: " Croatia knows what it
will do, as does the whole Croatian public". We are friends with the
United States, we participate in the anti-terrorist coalition, and
we are definitely allies with those with whom we wish to be in the
same house, and that is the European Union."
Asked directly whether Croatia would sign the agreement, the
president said that everything was in the negotiating process.
