ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - The Croatian National Electoral Commission said Thursday that more than 300,000 members of national minorities would be eligible to vote for councils and representatives of ethnic minorities at 872 polling
stations in counties, towns and municipalities on May 18.

A total of 4,944 voters have the right to elect representatives of
national minorities in counties, 1,375 in towns and 116 in
municipalities. Representatives are elected by members of national
minorities if at least 100 of them live in a certain county, town or
municipality.
Elections have been announced for 471 national minority councils,
i.e. 73 in counties, 148 in towns and 250 in municipalities. Fifteen
national minorities nominated candidates for councils.
Elections will also be held for 141 ethnic minority representatives
in regional and local bodies: 80 in counties, 59 in towns and two in
municipalities. Thirteen national minorities nominated
candidates for representatives.
A total of 3,675 candidates have been nominated in the elections for
councils and representatives.
