ZAGREB, May 7 (Hina) - The Croatian Bloc (HB) on Wednesday refuted
claims by the vice president of the Croatian Harmony Forum (FHS),
Zdravko Tomac, that HB was an "isolationist party". #L#
Tomac and FHS president Davorin Rudolf late last month announced
FHS would co-operate before elections with centre parties such as
the Democratic Centre, the Croatian Peasant Party, or the Social
Liberals.
Tomac then told reporters FHS was foreign to parties such as the
Croatian People's Party and the Liberal Party, which he said denied
Croatia's achievements of the past 13 years, and that it was also
foreign to isolationists like HB or the Croatian True Revival.
In a press release today, HB notes that its programme states that
"Europe is a complex system of differences" and that HB sees "united
Europe as a guarantee for the prosperous survival of variety in
unity". The press release says HB aspires towards equal membership
for Croatia in European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.
Noting that "Croatia's current policy has turned into a competition
of servility towards international factors," HB believes that it is
necessary first to gain the trust of Croatian voters and then to
seek support from influential international factors.
"That is by no means isolationism. Zdravko Tomac know this," HB's
press release said, adding that Tomac's statement constituted
"empty labelling".
