With the US$38 million Slovenia is to get from funds of socialist
Yugoslavia's central bank, until recently blocked in United States
banks, "it might even be possible to pay the depositors with the
Ljubljanska Bank Zagreb," Primec said.
Rudi Gabrovec, head of succession issues in Prime Minister Anton
Rop's office, told state radio Slovenia had still not decided as to
how to use the $38 million. He was adamant the money would not be
used to settle the debt to Croatian depositors.
Gabrovec reiterated Ljubljana's official position that Croatians'
claims were in the sphere of negotiations on succession to the
former Yugoslav federation which were not over yet.
