About 50,217 citizens attended the referendum and 95 percent voted
for direct elections of these officers, Pusic said.
She recalled that HNS had forwarded two bills to parliament
regarding local self-government and that both had passed first
reading. The most important change in the bills dealt with the
direct election of mayors and municipal heads.
Pusic said she expected the bills to be adopted before the summer.
