The company's CEO, Dragan Marcinko, told reporters on Wednesday
that "the accident happened in one location, while 'Djuro
Djakovic's' equipment was installed elsewhere and certainly cannot
be connected to the accident".
The company's officials said such negative propaganda, which was
not founded on evidence, would have long-term consequences.
"At the moment we are offering several big projects around the
world, one of which is a thermal electric power plant for the
African market, worth 250 million US dollars," Marcinko said. He
added that possible investors would now look at the company
differently.
"Cooling fluid flows through our pipeline which then enters the
reactor. What occurs in the reactor afterwards has nothing to do
with our pipeline. The passage of the fluid through it is regulated
by a mechanism found in any nuclear plant. So, what failed was the
cooling system of the atomic reactor in which the explosion
occurred, which has nothing to do with our pipeline," the company's
former director, Ljudevit Vanic, said.
A former CEO, Antun Milovic, also dismissed any responsibility by
Djuro Djakovic for the Chernobyl disaster.
