Josko Kontic of the HSLS said one had to establish who appraised the
Hvar-based hotel company and under which methods, who decided to
sell the company as a whole, why the 200-million-kuna company was
offered at a price of 70 million kuna, etc.
Kontic recalled that a vice-premier and the Tourism Minister had
claimed that the privatisation of Suncani Hvar was the best case of
privatisation, and wondered what it was that made the government
cancel it eventually. If there had been irregularities and murky
dealings in the process, those responsible for them should answer,
Kontic said.
Kontic explained he was referring to Tourism Minister Pave Zupan
Ruskovic, Vice-Premier Slavko Linic, and members of the Croatian
Privatisation Fund (HFP) management board who had unanimously
decided to sell the company to Terme Catez.
Kontic believes that the discussion on Suncani Hvar should be used
to warn about problems occurring in the management of the maritime
good and hotel land.
He claims that the privatisation process is being conducted in the
same way as before the change of authority, according to a model
called "the framework for plunder".
