Picula told reporters positive elements outweighed open issues in
the two neighbours' relations. He hoped Slovenia's recent
ratification of an agreement on the jointly owned nuclear power
plant Krsko would lead to the solving of other open issues,
particularly Slovene banks' debt to Croatian clients dating back to
the time of the ex-Yugoslavia.
Rupel said Slovenia supported Croatia's bids towards Euro-Atlantic
integration. He said today's talks addressed border issues,
economic cooperation, and ecology in the Adriatic.
"Slovenia-Croatia relations are good, with a few practical open
issues," said Rupel, hoping integration processes would expedite
the solving of those issues. Slovenia wishes for the future
Schengen border dividing it and Croatia to stay in force as briefly
as possible and to move further south-east, he said.
