Mihajlovic told reporters that the remains were discovered in the
night between Thursday and Friday. Four members of a unit for
special operations, the so-called Red Berets, who had participated
in Stambolic's abduction, were arrested, the minister said, adding
their names would not be revealed in the interest of the
investigation.
Stambolic was taken to Fruska Gora after his abduction in Belgrade
and executed with two shots to his head. He was buried in a
previously dug up grave, Mihajlovic said.
The murder was undoubtedly politically motivated and ordered,
Mihajlovic said, adding that former Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic, who stands trial at The Hague, and his wife Mira Markovic
would be questioned in relation to the case.
