Ambassador to Washington, Ivan Grdesic. #L#
The CAA President, George Rudman, said the association had two
goals: to help Bosnia to become a self-viable country and help
Croatia to shun possible attempts aimed at placing it in Balkan
institutions.
In May CAA representatives are going to Congress to lobby for the
Croatian interests.
At the dinner, the head of the CAA Midwest branch, Anthony Perajica,
urged Zagreb to show more understanding to the voice of Croats in
the United States.
The Bosnian presidency's member Covic asked American Croats to
support efforts aimed at making it possible for Bosnian Croats to
enjoy the equality to the same extent as the other two constituent
peoples in that country.
Commenting on inter-Croat topics, Covic asserted that Croatia at
the time of the Franjo Tudjman rule had had more understanding than
the incumbent ruling coalition for Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Ambassador Grdesic informed the participants in the Chicago event
on the situation in Croatia. He stressed that since the regulation
of the issue of the peninsula of Prevlaka and the departure of UN
from the area, Croatia was now without any foreign soldier on its
soil after several centuries.
Commenting on the relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Grdesic
relayed the official stand of the ruling coalition that Croats in
Bosnia should solve their problems within the borders of their
country Bosnia and that Croatia would not let them down.
Some other guests at the gala banquet were Congressman Deny Davis
and local authorities.
