BELGRADE, March 13 (Hina) - By 5 pm on Thursday the Serbian police arrested 56 persons, including eight persons from the mobster clan believed to have organised and carried out the assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic, the Serbian government stated this evening. #L# According to the same source, the leaders of the group, Milorad Lukovic a.k.a. Legija, a former commander of special operations units called the Red Berets, Dusan Spasojevic a.k.a. Siptar, and Mile Lukovic "Godfather" are still on the run. Nebojsa Covic, Serbia's Vice-Premier and Acting Premier, confirmed this evening for Television B92 that the persons who had been arrested also included Jovica Stanisic, a former head of the Serbian interior ministry's State Security Service, and a former commander of the Red Berets, Franko Simatovic a.k.a Frenki, who had held the post before the prime suspect Milorad Lukovic a.k.a Legija. B92 previously reported that 200 persons were arrested in the ongoing police operation, but it seems that this figure was released by mistake. (hina) rml
