The meeting will be held in keeping with the US-Adriatic initiative
with the aim of enhancing the prospects of these three countries
being admitted into NATO and represents the event preceding the
signing of a Charter of Partnership between the United States of
America and the Republics of Albania, Croatia and Macedonia.
The signing ceremony is foreseen for mid March this year in
Washington.
The US-Adriatic Charter is a document that should motivate the
ongoing reforms in the armed forces. Co-operation between these
three countries will be in the spirit of activities conducted by the
Vilnius Group with the focus being put on joint lobbying and support
for accession to NATO.
US Ambassador to Croatia Lawrence Rossin will attend the meeting on
behalf of the US as a partner in the process.
