Group trial, Mirko Norac, on Thursday denied all counts of the
indictment which refer to him. #L#
Presenting his defence to the Rijeka County Court Panel of Judges,
presided by Judge Ika Saric, Norac said he did not attend the so-
called deadly meeting on October 16, 1991 and that he knew nothing
about it.
He said he had no knowledge of the execution of civilians in Lipova
Glavica and that he only learned about it from media and during this
trial. Norac said he never ordered any execution or detention of
Serb civilians, which the indictment accuses him of.
While Norac was presenting his defence, defendant Stjepan Grandic
complained to judge Saric about feeling weak and that he "cannot
listen to Norac's defence". The judge adjourned the trial in order
to establish Grandic's condition. After the break, Norac should
continue to present his defence.
Norac, Tihomir Oreskovic, Ivica Rozic, Stjepan Grandic and Milan
Canic are indicted for war crimes against civilians in the Gospic
region in the autumn of 1991.
