During the afternoon Solana met Vojislav Kostunica, Montenegrin
Premier Milo Djukanovic and a candidate for the president of Serbia
and Montenegro, Svetozar Marovic.
Following the talks, Solana voiced satisfaction with the signing of
a charter on the new state union, but added that it had to be
implemented, quickly and in good faith.
Assessing the day's talks as exceptionally good, he said that at its
next summit in June the EU would know how to value this step.
The media in Belgrade reported that at today's talks Premier Zoran
Djindjic and the EU official had disagreed about the issue of
Kosovo. Solana wants EU standards to be adopted before the issue of
Kosovo's status is discussed, while Djindjic believes that the
international community should take heed of Belgrade's stands with
regard to all issues and that the country's border should be
defined.
Djinjdic said he would send a letter to the UN Security Council
about this matter.
